My friend from college, Susan, and her husband, Dan visited for a long weekend. While they were here, the sun actually made an appearance! The weather has been very crappy the past few months. The temperature has been averaging about 10 degrees cooler than normal. BOO!

We visited Mt. Rainier and spent an afternoon downtown Olympia. While we were downtown, the Pride Parade was taking place. We all watched the parade and enjoyed the spectacle. It was interesting.

(Her sign says, "Hooters on Scooters." How could I NOT take a picture!?)

The school year is winding to an end. The children and staff are gone. I had to adjust my contract so that I could be home with Mauer most of the days that Bonnie is on vacation. I cannot wait to be home with Mauer during July. It seems as though, the month is going to go by very quickly. Mauer and I will be in Minnesota from July 18th- 25th. Todd will join us on the 22nd and we all have the same flight home.

What is new with Mauer?
He has begun to make some new noises. It sounds like “ahhhhh” but it’s coming from the back of his throat. He will do it for as long as he can hold his breath. When he does it several times in a row, he has to stop and catch his breath. It’s cute.

He is laughing pretty regularly. Although, he laughs for Todd a lot more than he laughs for me.

He is pretty much a pro at rolling over. He has mastered both tummy to back as well as back to tummy.

He is starting to enjoy the bathtub. He used to only tolerate them, but now he smiles and splashes around.

Mauer loves Kielty too. Whenever he sees the dog walk into the room, he gets a big smile on his face. If he’s lucky, he gets a face full of dog tongue and a fist full of dog hair.

Tree Update

Mauer's tree is blooming and it's beautiful! I'm so happy it's still alive.

The Spanier’s Visit

Grandma Margaret, Grandpa Greg, Uncle Kyle, & Uncle Jared visited us for an entire week! Mauer skipped going to Bonnie’s house and stayed with the family on Thursday, Friday, and Tuesday! He got used to being REALLY spoiled! He loved to rock with Grandma and snuggle with Grandpa.

On Friday, they went to Mount St. Helen’s. Unfortunately, it the weather was pretty miserable so they did not see how awesome it was. Below are pictures from both the trip this month as well as a trip we took in 2009. The view is very different

Todd joined the crew for a tour of the Boeing Factory on Saturday. Mauer wasn’t big enough so he and I stayed in Olympia a few extra hours. He and I met up with the gang at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle. It pretty much rained the entire day. Below, Kyle is putting together a 3D puzzle in the "bug" section.

Sunday, we stuck around Olympia. We went to the Farmers Market and hung out around the Sound. Again, it was cold, wet, and dreary. The girls went to the Japanese Garden, and to the Star Wars “mural.” While the boys went to hit golf balls and swing bats. We all met up for dinner and everyone (minus Mauer & me) went to see the new Shrek in 3D.

Memorial Day we were planning another trip to Seattle. The weather looked terrible- AGAIN! We even drove through downpours! Alas, the clouds parted and we saw sunshine! We were so thankful. We went up into the Space Needle, watched fish being thrown at the famous Market, and then capped the night off with an excellent baseball game. The Twins were playing the Mariners. There was a surprising amount of Twins fans at the game. Twins won!

We were able to see Ken Griffey Jr.'s last at-bat. We didn't know it at the time though!

On Tuesday, Todd and I were back to work. Grandma, Grandpa, Uncles and Mauer went to the coast. Of course, the rain returned. I think they were there for about 6.8 minutes and drove the hour-long trip home.

Kyle brought Mauer some special onsies. He made them with his screen printing/heat press machine. He's very talented and likes to create personalized attire!

We had a wonderful time but we are happy to be back in a routine. Of course, we are gearing up for visitors again on the 10th.

Mauer's Check Up

Mauer had his 4 month check. He was given a clean bill of health. He's on target in all areas. Here is his growth chart for those that are interested (Dad).
